Michael Wylie of Clarks Green Elected to American Health Care Association Board of Governors

HARRISBURG
--- Michael Wylie, vice president of development at Genesis HealthCare and a past chairman of the board of directors at the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA), has been elected by his peers to the Board of Governors for the American Health Care Association (AHCA), which is the nation’s largest long-term and post-acute care association.

The Board of Governors, which establishes the strategic agenda for AHCA, is comprised of leading long-term care providers from across the country who are elected by the membership. Wylie, who lives in Clarks Green with his wife, Denise, and daughter, Sara, will serve a two-year term.

“Mike has been in our profession for more than two decades and has served in leadership positions at both the state and national levels.  What I admire most about Mike is that he always puts the overall good of the profession -- and the residents that we care for -- above himself and his company.  There is no ego in Mike Wylie when it comes to doing the right thing,” said PHCA President and CEO Stuart H. Shapiro, MD.  “Mike cares deeply about continually enhancing the quality of care and quality of life for those who are living in long-term care facilities.”

Wylie began his career in long-term care as an activities aide at a skilled nursing facility, then rose through the ranks at Genesis HealthCare – one of the nation’s largest providers of skilled nursing and rehabilitation care -- to become an assistant nursing home administrator, administrator, regional director and regional vice president. He also has a personal connection to the profession; his father resides in a skilled nursing facility in New Hampshire.
