She has been an integral part of the Applewood family since 1995 enriching the lives of the residents on a daily basis with new ideas on creating a homelike setting. She is an active member of the Monadnock community her entire life and plans to continue investing in community relationships.

Joanne Grenier, OTR/L

She received her Bachelors of Occupational Studies from Worcester State University and her Master of Occupational Therapy from Bay Path University. In addition, to withholding her New Hampshire licensure, Joanne is a member of the AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association). As a therapist, Joanne enjoys working with patients/residents of various disorders as she finds this very rewarding to see individual’s different levels of growth.

Julia Deuso
Director of NursingJulia earned her RN from Vermont Technical College and BSN from Kaplan University. She spent a majority of her career working as an ICU nurse. During this time she was able to travel across the US a few times working as a travel nurse. Julia's mother always worked with the elderly community and she always knew her goal was to work in some capacity with folks in need. Her very first job was when she was 6. She was tasked with getting the mail for her elderly neighbor.
When Julia isn't working her favorite thing to do is spend time with her husband, whether it is a home task, a car ride, or finding a new brewery with good food. She looks forward to the summer months so she can get out on the motorcycle or go camping. In her spare time she enjoys to knit, crochet, or do weaving.
Fun fact about Julia: She rode her first motorcycle in a saddle bag as a toddler while wearing a sauce pan on her head! She is sure it was only long enough for a photo opportunity!

Kate Carson
Nurse PractitionerKate holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Rivier University in Nashua, NH, as well as a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Baltimore MD. Kate has always had a fascination with the human body and how delicately all of the body processes work together, both in big picture and cellular levels, so getting into nursing was a logical step in her career. She went into nursing school with plans to either continue on to be an NP or a physician as she always felt most drawn to the provider role and this only solidified during during nursing training. She absolutely loves what she does and has taken quite an interest in cardiology, women's health, and hospital medicine. When Kate isn't working you can find her spending time with her family. She has two children that keep her husband and her very busy! They play travel hockey and figure skate. As a family, they love to spend their time outside camping and hiking during the warmer months.

Dr. Haris Bilal
Medical DirectorDr. Bilal did his medical school from Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014. He then moved to New Hampshire, working as a hospital medicine physician at Cheshire Medical Center. He joined post-acute care in 2019, providing medical care to Nursing Home residents. He has served as medical director in various nursing facilities, and is currently enjoying that role here at Genesis Applewood Center.
Total respect for residents
Both my parents were at Applewood and received the best care with compassion, love, hugs, and total respect for the residents. There is not another facility that comes close to the care that is given here.
When my mother was dying the nurses stayed with her holding her hands, hugging her, singing to her to make her comfortable and to let her know she was loved. They get very close to the residents and their family. They treat the residents... with respect and as if they were their own family members. Every morning there's a hug and smile and the same is given at night.
The whole staff: nurses, the office, kitchen, housekeeping, therapy and all other areas treat everyone the same. They are always there to help and support. When my mother wanted oranges or candy before we could get there, someone went to the little store down the street and got them for her.
I spent a lot of time there with my parents and the only thing I ever felt was love and respect.
To all who work there you are all Angels in my eyes. God love you all.

Stellar, genuine treatment
My mother has been a resident of Applewood for four years, and has received excellent care. She is treated like the special person that she is, and it is obvious that the staff cares about her, and that their stellar treatment of her is genuine. The leadership team; Gail, Wanda, Stephanie, Michelle, are very attentive, and regularly communicate with me directly. The LNAs are the best I have ever seen; they are so kind and patient, and make my mother feel comfortable, secure and safe at all times. I am proud to recommend Applewood to anyone who is seeking long term or short term skilled nursing care for a loved one. Thanks to the entire staff for creating a lovely home for my mother.
Walking independently!
I was admitted to Cheshire Medical Center in the beginning of October of 2018 for a stage four decubitus ulcer on my buttock. The decubitus resulted in me having an ostomy. My wound was so bad they didn’t think I was going to live. At the Hospital the Doctor told me I would never walk again. Following four operations, I was admitted to Applewood for Skilled Nursing Services. I had a wound vac for approx. seven months and I had to go to the would clinic every 2-3 weeks. I participated in Occupational and Physical Therapy 5-6 x a week to help me gain strength and walk again. After a lot of hard work, determination & support from the Applewood staff, I am able to walk independently. My decubitus has improved enough to be managed at home with the assistance of Home health care. I am finally going home after a long seven months!

Home away from home
I was treated with the utmost respect and built friendships with staff and consumers. Applewood has become my home away from home. Making sure I was comfortable, and meeting my needs. I would recommend Applewood to anyone! To all staff and those that have made an impact in my life.
