Coronavirus Updates 09/29/2021
Dear Patients, Residents and Families,
Thank you for entrusting Genesis HealthCare to care for your loved one.
The health and safety of our patients, residents, and staff guide every decision we make, even the difficult ones. On August 2, 2021, to protect those who are living and working in our facilities, we announced a universal COVID-19vaccination requirement for our employees, care partners, and onsite vendors. The vast majority of our patients and residents had already been vaccinated. However, despite voluntary staff vaccination rates that were higher than the industry average, the rapidly growing spread of the Delta variant caused us too much concern. As you well know, older adults and those with comorbidities are at the greatest risk of severe outcomes from COVID-19 infection. Vaccination is one of the best tools available to us to create the safest environment for those in our care.
I am pleased to let you know that our COVID-19 vaccination requirement went into effect on August 23, 2021. With the exception of a very small number of medical and religious exemptions, all employees, care partners, and onsite vendors are fully or partially vaccinated for COVID-19. Employees have until September 22, 2021 to receive their second dose in the two dose COVID-19vaccination series, if they have not already.
Our requirement was ambitious, and the achievement of this requirement – and the vaccination of thousands of our colleagues in a short period of time -- was nothing short of monumental. I could not be more proud of our team for serving as early leaders within the industry, and for demonstrating their dedication to the safety of our patients, residents, and fellow colleagues. Our facilities are now the safest skilled nursing facilities for patients, residents, and staff. We thank you for your continued support and for entrusting your loved one to our care.

Staying Informed
We remain committed to keeping families updated about the situation at our facility, and how their loved ones are doing. Keeping families informed is our top priority.
Thank you, Dick Mackey, nephew of Virginia Bretchel, for sharing his kind words, and for Courtney Wood for sharing this fun selfie!

“Even during this time of the pandemic, I’m very happy with the care that she’s gotten. The administrator at the facility has had a Zoom call every day to keep everyone updated. The nursing home always calls me whenever there is an issue. I couldn’t be happier with the place.” – Dick Mackey, nephew of resident Virginia
